About the Members of READY SET RADIO

Eric Mears

Vocals
Guitar
Bass
Harmonica
Drums

Eric was named after one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters of all time. So, naturally, he had to become a professional musician.

It wasn’t a hard decision. It wasn’t actually a decision at all. For Eric, the world is full of people and things that bring you down but music is always the one thing that brings you up. So it’s the one thing he would always gravitate back to.

After high school Eric served his country with the Marine Corps. Following deployment, he returned to music where, for the better part of a decade he developed his vocal and guitar skills while touring with an original band. Along the way, he found a natural ability to do stunning tattoo work, so he pursued that. Then, back to music. This time with a clear ambition: to use music and performance to create magical moments for people that they would remember for a lifetime.

Outside of being the front person for Ready Set Radio, Eric enjoys motorcycles, snakes and chill time with cool people. Make sure you meet Eric at a show near you and ask him about his pet boa, Rocky.

Julie Lewis

Vocals
Bass
Keys
Drums

At an early age, it became clear to those around Julie that her future would always be surrounded by music. As a kid her prized possession was her radio. She would often be found dancing and singing along to favorite artists such as: Genesis, a-Ha, Elton John, and Michael Jackson; to name a few.

At age 7 she began taking piano lessons, which taught her theory and dynamics. By the time she was in elementary school she was already singing in chorus groups and choirs. As a teen she took up guitar and soon after fell in love with the drums, spending several years playing in church bands and local acts before she selflessly set aside her ambitions to work on her greatest achievement: raising her two amazing daughters.

Now, she’s back and absolutely crushing it in a band that utilizes all of her musical abilities!

Outside of being a Jill of all trades in Ready Set Radio, Julie loves spending quality time with family and friends, board/card games, crocheting blankets, helping people and true crime podcasts.

Make sure when you meet Julie to ask her about her daughters and what they are up to these days. That will always bring a smile to her face.

James "Floaty" Lewis

Drums
Bass
Guitar

Floaty grew up in a house full of music. His Mom was the first person to inspire his passion by introducing him to The Beatles. His Dad gave him his love for Johnny Cash. His sister taught him pop sensibility with her love of everything 80’s pop. It wasn’t long before he knew his life would always revolve around the creation and performance of music.

As a teen, he began learning guitar and quickly started writing his own songs and playing in bands while learning the craft of showmanship. Eventually he formed a band that was fortunate to develop a following; which allowed them to record and release several albums as well as tour incessantly. The dream, right? Nope, not for Floaty. Something was missing. He had to change course, and change instruments. The time had come to address a long buried passion, the drums.

With this new instrument came new goals. Gone were the dreams of rockstardom. Now, he is motivated to use his skills as an entertainer to take on the challenge of creating the world's most unique and entertaining cover band. More importantly, he wanted to accomplish that with his friends and his family. So far, so good.

Outside of drumming duties for Ready Set Radio, Floaty enjoys retro video games, horror movies and wrestling.

The next time you see Floaty, ask him how long it takes him to beat the original Legend of Zelda game!

Drew Law

Vocals
Guitar
Bass
Keys
Drums
Saxophone
Mandolin

Drew has been playing music for 15 years. Starting off playing the bass with some church groups he quickly discovered he wasn’t satisfied with just one instrument. He began developing his technique and style across a variety of instruments.

His skills elevated as he took off on tour at age 16 with a multi-album signed band. When that project ended, he decided to try a different approach to musical performance. He became a self-described “Musical Mercinary”.

Always evolving, and always available, he stormed his way around; taking gigs in bar bands, original acts, churches, wedding bands, anything to gain more experience, skill, and of course money.

There’s no genre that scares him; he loves and can play all of them. The creative outlet is a huge motivator for Drew.

Outside of being a guitarist, bassist, drummer, pianist, saxophonist, mandolin player and vocalist in Ready Set Radio, Drew enjoys hikes, meeting new people, solving puzzles and cooking.

When you see him, ask Drew about his pedalboard. Then tell him your favorite variety of M&M candy. Trust us!

Smev Farris

DJ

Smev has been a performer his whole life, having his first lead role in 4th grade. Early on he discovered that through acting, not only could you fight off boredom by pretending to be somebody else, but you could also find profound insight into the lives of others as well as a genuine relatability.

With a living resume of music and theatrical shows that anyone would be proud of, he is definitely not short on talent. His skills have allotted him opportunities to tour the East Coast as far north as Toronto in a singing group.

As an actor, he has been cast in numerous community theater musicals including Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, and West Side Story to name a few.

Smev is the resident music encyclopedia. Attributing to his wide range of musical tastes, he always knows little facts about songs and artists. Truly his knowledge of music is only exceeded by his personal playlist. On there you will find the BBC Big Band Orchestra as well as The Who, Alison Krauss, Sir Mix-aLot, Israel Houghton, Fireflight, BRNFKD… It just goes on and on.

Outside of being the host of The Ready Set Radio Show, Smev is fond of movies, books and nature; especially if that last one is a nice place to hike or camp.

When you see Smev, ask him about his favorite obscure song. It'll always be different and worth a listen!
